Fitting a towbar looks trivial, until you discover the questions of type approval, wiring and setup. Better to understand the whole picture before buying a ball at random.

Choosing the right towbar

Fixed, detachable swan-neck or flange ball: the choice depends on use and looks. It must be type approved for your vehicle and respect the noseweight set by the maker.

Wiring and fitting

The wiring kit drives the trailer lights, in 7 or 13 pin depending on equipment. A professional fit ensures approval and compatibility with the car electronics. Before investing, check the car really can tow your load, for example on the Nissan Qashqai page or via the 2,000 kg ranking.
